Reno Wahl Iversen for Dyrlund Captain’s Bar in Rosewood, Denmark, 1960s

£1995.00

Description

A superb Danish Captain’s Bar designed by Reno Wahl Iversen for Dyrlund, dating from the 1960s and finished in beautifully figured rosewood.

One of the most iconic and cleverly designed bar cabinets of the period, this piece is compact and architectural when closed, then opens out to reveal a fitted interior with drawers, shelving and bottle storage, along with an extending top that creates a generous serving surface. It is a piece that feels every bit as impressive in form as it does in function.

The rosewood grain on this example is particularly striking, with beautifully matched veneers across the front and sides giving it real depth, warmth and presence. Internally, the cabinet is well arranged for bottles, glassware and bar accessories, while details such as the brass fittings, lined drawer and original Dyrlund label speak to the quality of the design and manufacture.

Practical, sculptural and full of mid-century character, this is a proper statement piece. Ideal for use as a home bar, cocktail cabinet or simply as a standout piece of Danish modern furniture.
