Rare Mid-Century Maclamp Floor Lamp British Modernist Design c.1970
Description
This rare mid-century floor lamp was manufactured in Britain by Maclamp Ltd of Banbury, best known for their iconic desk lamps popularised during the 1960s and early 70s. Finished in a rich cream enamel with a brass-effect gooseneck arm, the lamp combines elegant minimalism with practical function. The adjustable neck allows for directional lighting, making it ideal as a reading or accent lamp, while the slim profile and circular base reflect the modernist aesthetic that defined British interiors of the era.
Unlike the more common wooden-armed Maclamp desk models, this floor-standing version is much harder to find and may have formed part of Maclamp’s extended lighting range sold through Habitat.
With its warm finish, honest materials and quietly refined design, this lamp is a rare surviving example of British modernist lighting — perfectly suited to both mid-century and contemporary interiors.
