Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen Drop Leaf Dining Table for France & Søn, Denmark, 1960s

£1795.00

Description

An exceptional Danish modern drop-leaf dining table designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for France & Søn in the 1960s.

Crafted in beautifully figured teak, the table showcases the architectural elegance synonymous with Hvidt & Mølgaard’s work. The sculptural gateleg base is particularly striking, with flowing framed supports and softly curved stretchers giving the piece a sense of lightness despite its generous proportions.

Designed with versatility in mind, the drop-leaf construction allows the table to transition effortlessly from a compact everyday footprint to a full round dining table. The craftsmanship throughout is superb, from the seamless joinery to the rich teak grain which has developed a deep warm tone over time.

An iconic piece of Danish furniture design which works equally well as a statement dining table or sculptural centrepiece within a modern interior.

Photographed here alongside Finn Juhl dining chairs for styling purposes.
